Housing goats and chickens together. Housing design ideas.

We currently have about 25 chickens and just brought home 3 Nigerian Dwarf kids. Our plan is for them to be housed together and share the same run so I am looking for ideas on housing chickens and goats together harmoniously. How do you keep the goats out of the chicken feed? Set up of nest boxes and roosting bars? I would love to see pictures or hear about your designs on how this works for you!

Goats and Chickens can share free range areas together but I would have a dedicated run for the chickens that is fully enclosed and predator proof. You will need a creative goat guard to keep the goats out of the run. Mine had to be modified a few times before the FULL SIZE goats stayed out of the run. Goats are extremely agile and smart. Not too long ago I saw someone that had a run area where shelves were created up high for chickens so that the dwarf goats only had access to the lower part of the run. Chickens will eat goat feed and goats will eat chicken feed. Chickens also like to scatter the hay in the goat hay bin. That may be your only option so that the chickens need to fly up. Adding ramps for the chickens may work unless the goats climb them as well! I am assuming that you are keeping the kids in a run to protect them from predators? Keeping your goats out of the chicken run will be your best option and building a separate goat run. Our goats don't need a run since they free range and we have guardian dogs on the property.
