Does anyone have a natural insecticide recipe for getting rid of Aphids? They are killing my seedlings!

I've used a couple different methods that seemed to work fine. One was to put banana peels around the plants (I did that for roses.) The other way was to wash the plants with soapy water (used that on lupines and other flowers.)

Ladybugs are well-known feasters of aphids. You can order them at stores or thru the mail. Also, there are many kinds of aphids. Try to narrow down which kind you have, there may be specific controls for each species. Good Luck!

Go to your local nursery or garden store and ask them what works best in your area.

Soapy water and ladybugs work for me. They might have better tricks to try.

Thanks for the info! I think I will try soap this time. The aphids I have are tiny and bright green, and they seem to be attracted to my lettuce and broccoli seedlings.

I use this on aphids, and it works really well. I mix 1 cup water, 1 tbsp. veg oil and 1 tsp of dish soap. It usually kills the aphids in one go round, but I spray it on for two or three days at least.

usually, I use dawn and water. Today I was at the county extension and one of the mater gardeners there suggested Isopropal Alcohol and water sprayed on the plants. I haven't tried that one yet, but there you are. Aphids must be the bug of the year. For the first time in as long as I can remember I have them here in NM.
