How contaigious is coccidiosis to other pets and humans?

DH is very concerned. I say if we practice safe hand washing and old shoes left out side we will be fine. He is afraid the dogs are going to get sick. The dogs are not down by the coop.

Think about where the coccidiosis came from in the first place. It's out in the environment all the time. Some animals/people just happen to catch it.
Keep washing your hands. Use lime to sanitize the areas, Be careful but stop worrying yourself to death.

The kind people can get isn't usualy the kind animals have. Almost every dog/puppy and cat/kitten, chick/hen/rooster already has coccidia but it only shows itself and causes problems during certain situations stress, low immunity etc. So for all you know your dogs already have it in thier system but it is not presenting itself and its dormaint right now. Lots of good info about it on the web.

Coccidia are species-specific. Birds get bird coccidia, dogs get mammal ones. Your dogs are safe.
