How do I cover the windows to keep out rain?

My coop is a Suncast resin shed with four of the plastic non functional "windows" replaced with hardware cloth for ventilation. Any ideas for a covering that will keep out rain but still let the air flow? I put a shade on one of the windows but it's already broke and I'm not always home to open and close it depending on the weather. There are two windows on the other side that have the hardware cloth in them also.

Thanks Mary. I was thinking about awnings. I hadn't thought about using the windows that I took out. I'll have to kick that around a little and see if it would work.

How about awnings? Do you still have the windows? You could use them as awnings, hinged at the top, over the openings. Mary

Cut boards the same size as your windows or a bit larger, paint, and add hinges on the top edge. Attach them above each window. You will then need to add some type of hinged pole or a way to prop them open partially or full open as well as the ability for them to be fully closed.

My coop has double hung windows that I leave closed and vent openings with flaps that I wire open or closed. The covered run side of the coop has large openings and I leave the coop door open during hot weather (the run roof keeps the rains out). Hope this helps.
