Hello everyone! So last night my duckling came down with the respiratory illness. I’m going to tractor supply to get the stuff to try and fog her. I have a humidifier. I’ve only had one other duckling with a respiratory illness, and she died before I could figure out what it was. I’ve never done this before and it is all new to me. I’m going to use oxine. Hopefully, I can find it. Any ideas on how to do this would be very helpful! I really do not want to lose this duckling!

Any help would be very, very, very appreciated!!! thanks!

She’s been sneezing and awful a lot, which is what makes me think she has the illness. And she’s been breathing with her mouth open on and off sometimes she’ll do it and sometimes she’ll stop.

Also could this hurt the duckling if she’s not actually sick with it?

OK, so I just went to tractor supply they didn’t have the oxine but gave me this. They said I can rub it on her neck, vaporize it or put it in her water. What do you think will work best?

Please help I want to put this in/on/around her as soon as possible!

Vet Rx is basically vaporub for chickens and ducks.

You could put a little on her or put it in the water, there are directions on it.

Yes follow the directions on the Vet RX.
Oxine AH can be purchased online. It’s a little pricey, but what you do with it is first of all you do not get the activator. The activator is just for using it as a cleaning agent .
if you’re going to use it to help a duck who might have a fungal infection in their lungs, such as aspergillus., you are going to take 22 ounces of water and 2 tablespoons of the oxine to make a solution that you can put into a large spray bottle . and you can put a little of the solution in a nebulizer, you put your duck in a small dog crate with the nebulizer attached pointing the steam into the crate and put towels over the top., cover sides also ( towel) You leave it for 20 to 30 minutes. You do this two or three times a day.
You can also use the solution to spray a little mist of it above the heads of all your ducks chickens so they breathe a little and it helps prevent fungal infections, and you can mist over the bedding in the coop to keep the dust down that also helps with respiratoryissue prevention

But before you do, any treatment, make sure that you have water deep enough for your ducklings to dunk their entire bill and eyes into the water. This is how they clean out their NARES and their 👀 If your duckling is sneezing, it is most likely caused by not having deep enough, clean water or ,, dusty bedding. What are you using for bedding?
