I need to give antibiotics to my rooster, they are the kind that you put in water. However for the antibiotics the directions say to use 200-400 mg per gallon, I don't have a scale, and all of my measuring spoons and stuff are for ml? What do I do?

What is the drug and the brand name? Duramycin 10, oxytetracycline, and others are common drugs, but more details are needed. Most drugs are mixed in a gallon of water.

400 mg is just shy of 1/8 tsp. Double check to be sure you are to use 200-400 mg of the actual powder not 200-400 mg of the active ingredient.

How do you know that if you don't know what drug the poster is using? For instance if a chicken is sick, you would want to use the maximum dosage that is recommended. With Duramycin 10 that would be 1 tablespoonful per gallon to make 800 mg. For oxytetracycline (Durvet brand) the Durvet brochure says 2.5 tablespoonful per gallon of water.

It doesn't matter. She already had a recommended dosage. I am converting volume measurement which is what the OP was asking. Her directions stated volume of medication in mg to be added to a gallon of liquid. I merely converted 400 mg by weight of a prepared powdered medication to an approximate tsp measurement.

Different medicines can weigh different amounts as shown in my example above. It would help if the OP would tell us which drug they are asking about.

You will have to check the label and see how much powder they have said equals the 200-400 mg. This must be defined before we can help you. The mg will not tell you how much of the powder to use.

Of course! I completely understand your concern, improper dosing could be fatal. The OP already has a prescribed drug and a prescribed dosage for that drug. She wasn't asking dosages. She was only asking administration equivalencies, how to measure mg. I was an RVT which is why I answered the OP's question with confidence. If the prescribed dose of a powder is 400mg, 400 mg is just shy of 1/8 teaspoon. If you'll check back you'll see that I cautioned the OP to be sure. This conversation is not helping her, so please feel free to PM!
