Hi everyone!

I am new to this forum but not new to owning chickens. I have 14 sweet chickens that run around my yard and they are the cutest. I have become very passionate about rescuing chickens from the horrible slaughterhouses and meat/egg factories. I think that rescuing those chickens are more important than buying baby chicks from hatcheries. I'm still researching ways to rescue chickens from these places, therefore if you have any advice, please let me know! It will be greatly appreciated! Also, if you know anyone/anywhere that is looking to re-home any livestock animals, please let me know!

I'm pretty sure chickens are in factories and slaughter houses for profit ...selling eggs to grocery stores, other pet foods ( i certainly buy my cat and dog foods made with chicken as the #1 ingredient) people food and the list goes on and on what consumers may purchase with the help of slaughter houses and factories. So what I'm saying is your not going to be able to purchase those chickens until after they are processed into consumer goods.

How do people rescue ex-battery hens? I've seen posts about it on BYC.

I've got to ask though, do you wish to rescue like you would a dog from a pound or to try and stop them from continuing their practices? Because rescuing birds there usually involves buying them, which the factories see as another way to get cash, which results in them having more birds. Hence the reason the rescues aren't more common

Over across the pond there are a bunch of rescue groups and different regulations. I don't think hardly anywhere can get birds from factories in the US. Just spent hens from people who have farms and butcher

So, maybe what you’re saying is, if she wants to make a difference don’t buy the end product from a store? Maybe only buy from someone you know or do it yourself.
I keep trying to edit this, but it keeps freezing
I don’t mean to put words in your mouth, but it sounded like that is what you were trying to say.
