How do you tan a hide with the hair on?

So in August we will be having a hulsteen steer butchered. I get to have the hide to tan but am not real sure how. Iv seen how to brain tan, I would brain tan, but I don't want to destroy the skull. Is there a way to get the brains out and not destroy it? If any of you have taned with the hair on please help! Google has not been much help.

I haven't done it in a long time but you need to get every ounce of fat off of the inside of the skin and you can coat the whole thing with borax till it completely dries. You can make a rack and stretch the hide over it.
When googling, look for tanning hides or curing. Lots of information out there for fur bearers and deer hides.
