I know this is a silly question, but we let our chickens free range a bit more than before and there is poo everywhere, of course. No problem except that my two Labradors who are on DIETS eat as much poo as they can get their mouths on!

Do you know if there are calories or fat in chicken poo?

All I know is that I don't want to come back as a dog

I know it's full of lots of nutrients, but fat and calories, I don't know... I also don't know if the "peep-poop shake a day" diet will catch on.

Hilarious question!

One word of caution - my dogs' urine tested high for salt and I can think of no other place they would get that except the chicken poop they eat... I think chicken food is high in salt (?) and maybe the poops are too?

As for calories, good question, I'm wondering if you could estimate that by adding up the weight of the poop they eat in a day and multiply it by the number of calories per pound of chicken food, and then take maybe half of that? Or somehow estimate what percentage of the calories the chicken absorbs, maybe it is more than 50%??? At least you could estimate a conservative (high) estimate of calories this way.

I know it's a funny question but my dogs need to lose weight for joint and hip problems and even though we have cut out the treats and lowered their feed intake they are not losing weight. I know they sometimes sneak some bites of chicken feed (bad dogs!) but they consume a ton of poop too!

I'd like to know the answer to this question also. My dachshund is overweight and dieting and is also fond of the chicken "chocolate". I've been keeping them penned up so she doesn't have access but
