I found out there is no ordinance in unincorporated Cook County prohibiting chickens and was told by Animal Control Dept. they are allowed. The question is how many? Building and Zoning is saying you cannot have more than 3 pets per residence and they are saying chickens fall under that ordinance. I have a hearing tomorrow morning regarding this and want to know if anyone can help?

what part of unincorporated Cook county are you in? I think Cook country is pretty big in all directions. Maybe the town or suburb you are closest to has jurisdiction.

It's not likely that anyone in your area is going to see this in enough time to be of help. Not many people follow the "new membersL thread except for the usual greeters ( me for instance).

IT would be better to have started a thread where it would attract attention . Maybe a moderator
could move this to the area that covers ordinances for various states/town/ etc.

Hey Janet here in a bind in unincorporated CC with my chickens. I've had chickens for 3 years. I got into it because my neighbors had them, and still do. Now I get a letter saying they are Pets. Are you kiddingme?

I'm in Elmhurst small litle neighborhood, kids would lean on the fence to give the chickens crackers, but I have an old crusty angry neighbor and he called. I got a letter about "vectors" and only 3 pets in the county. I need some help!!
