How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Now that I can collect regularly again, we seem to be settled at four a day at the moment. My Sapphire Gem pullet is consistently laying every day. One of my younger Nankin pullets is doing a darned good job of keeping up with her, while another is just starting to lay teeny-tiny treasures. There's always one other Nanny egg in The Cave, but I can't tell yet if it's one lady laying consistently or two playing tag-team. I'm leaning towards the latter, but who knows? We might get lucky!

Had to look up Nankin chickens - what lovely chooks! I have never seen them here ♥️

I got 5 but I need to check again. I have her in a tote that is just big enough for her. I'm going to put her back in my bathroom again with the heater on but before I do that, I'm going to put her in the shower. It seems that when I did she allowed herself to blow out her backend. I hope it helps her to get better soon. Got 7 today

Thanks! I LOVE my Nannies! From what I understand, they're hard to come by in Canada. It took us forever to get them here, too. When we first started looking, they were on the Livestock Conservancy's Critical list -
  • Fewer than 500 breeding birds in the United States, with five or fewer primary breeding flocks (50 birds or more), and estimated global population less than 1,000.
Since then, they've moved up to Threatened status:
  • Fewer than 1,000 breeding birds in the United States, with seven or fewer primary breeding flocks, and estimated global population less than 5,000.
It's been fun to follow and be a part of their recovery. We're not there, yet, but we're moving in the right direction. Now I just have to convince my girls to share more than three eggs a day, so we can start hatching again!

Okay, I'm done hijacking ... back to numbers!
