How many free range ducks can you get per acre

Hi I'm a brand new member although I've been getting information of here for some time now, my family and I have 20 acres of land and plenty of barns etc not in use, we have a friend who deals in hen egg production but needs thousands of duck eggs each week and we want to get into this ourselves and supply the duck eggs, my question is how many free range ducks can you get per acre is it 100 or 1000 I'm being told all diffrent types of info, any help will be much appreciated

Hi and welcome to the flock. I don't know anything about ducks either but, I would think some of them would just take off for the wild, if they weren't penned in.

Well the real question is feed and water after that you could
get a correct answer but if you are feeding them and plenty
of clean water is available I do not see why 1000 could not
satisfied in such a confined area but there is also the problem
of animal waste and this could lead to health problems there
is a lot to look into and as funny as it sounds a 4-H rep
could probable help you out and even come by and tell you
what could be dune with what you have

Thanks for the reply they will have more good than they can eat and plenty of clean water plus all the waste will be disposed of, the fella we are supplying has 100000 hens so he's advised us well but was a little unsure about ducks per acre as it's quail and hens he deals with
