How to grind up raw bones for puppies?

If you grind up raw bones to give to your dog, what do you use to do the grinding? I think my Cuisinart food processor might be mad at me if I tried to pull that one.

I've ground leg quarters bones and all in my meat grinder for my old cats. Only $100 that has been used for at least 5 years now. You can get them at Northern tool.

If the puppy is big enough chicken wings are a great start for chewing.

When the pups were little we didn't grind.
We bought the legs and mashed them with a mallet.
I don't give the wings as they couldn't handle all that skin and I am not trying to take it off.
So three whacks with the mallet and I tossed the leg in the bowl. That way they had broken bones to chew and hand to tear apart the flesh.
Worked out great!

Why not just give then small raw beef bones? I always have. I figure no one ground them up for their ancestors...Gives them something to do for a long time and keeps them out of trouble!

I'm thinking of for a 4-5 week old puppy, that's why I was thinking grinding would be best. Since in the wild, at that age they'd be eating regurgitated bone/meat/etc.

That young then the grinder mentioned would be best. We started at 8 weeks. Big size difference in just 4 weeks.
Do you have a local butcher that may be willing to do it for you?

In the wild they wouldnt be eating bones at 4 weeks.
No need to try to rush things

All of those pre-made raw "patty" things contain ground up bone, but my goodness they are expensive!

I just let them chew away, builds strong jaws and keeps them occupied. I bake the bones for a while in the oven so the particles of meat don't rot and make the pup sick. (let it cool completely) Take it away when it becomes small enough to fit in his mouth; last thing you need is to have it becomed lodged in his throat.

Please don't do the chicken bone thing....they splinter and can easily cause choking! Ask any reputable breeder; poultry bones are a no no.

Besides; check online, there are plenty of dogbone recipes out there that will save you a bundle...and you know exactly what's in 'em.

Cooked bone splinter, raw bone does not.
I cannot go raw because I cannot find a good source. When I could chicken backs worked fine.
