Hi,
Well, my rooster Gomez is at it again. As a few of you may remember, I posted a while ago asking how to cure a hen's bloody neck. My hen Polo, quickly recovered and we let her back outside to free range. I was not sure what the cause of it was until today. I saw Gomez pecking her. Gomez ran up to her and Polo squatted down to let him do his thing. Gomez however, fell off of her and starting pecking her neck until my sister and I stopped him. Why would he do this? How could I stop him?
Thanks in advance!

Roosters are often very aggressive to their hens. You could maybe put a bib of some sort on Polo to protect her. That may not work very well for any multitude of reasons, so if you wanted complete protection you might want to separate Gomez from Polo.

Great idea! I never thought of a chicken bib! Not sure if she would like it but, it's worth a shot. While Polo was healing, I did separate her and one other chicken from Gomez. Ideally, I would separate Gomez however he is the leader of his flock and his ladies would not be happy if I took him away.
Thank you for your help! I'll look into a bib!
