How will this wound look once healed?

My hen, which was attacked by a hawk a few days ago, and has since been acting pretty normal, has this wound. I am washing and putting anti ointment, electrolytes each day in water, and giving aspirin and waiting on antibiotics to arrive in the mail. Has anyone experienced a wound like this, which left muscle exposed at top the wing/ shoulder, and can describe to me how this will look once healed? I guess with skin missing from that area, it is hard to imagine what this will look like healed? Here are pictures. Thanks

Believe it or not, most severe wounds will eventually come together and heal. I would trim away any feathers that are in the wound. Most of the time oral antibiotics are not needed when you are cleaning the wound and applying antibiotic ointment twice a day. I would either use a spray bottle with saline or a wound spray, or dab the saline onto wound before applying the ointment. Let us know how she gets along.

Thanks so much! That's what I was hoping to hear. When I look at that muscle exposed lkke that, I can't believe it will heal. Yet she is acting like a healthy chicken. Even chattering away like she is ready to be back with her girls. I placed her cage near my heat hardy chicks in the garage for company.

One of my chicks was attacked by a raccoon earlier last year amd this is what it looks like now.

If you post the pictures of the healing process in this same thread, it makes it esier to follow along. We've seen chickens heal from some pretty surprising wounds, so stay hopeful!
