Humain way to put down my quail?

I have a quail whos always been "weaker" than the other and past few days its eye sight has gone weaker and it can't really support its weight and keeps falling down. but yesterday it stopped eating (only a few grains) and always stood against something to support its weight(which seems underwight to me" also iv wrapped it up and put it in its cage and not sure if i should put it down?

if so what would be a quick and painfree method for doing so ?

Watch the slaughtering quail video in my sig. Thats how I do it. If it's a chick the bones in the neck won't be stiff enough so you have to use scissors or twist and pull its head off. That sounds horrible I know, but it's over faster than any other way I know of.

If you have the stones to do it humanely regardless of how it makes you feel, a sharp rap to the back of the head with a piece of steel or rigid stick will put it down instantly.

I've never killed an animal inhumanely. Usually when people say humanely, they mean in a "gentle" way that doesn't hurt their own feelings. Is it humane to chop the head off? Yes. Is it hard for most people to do? Yes.

People are always asking me about killing quail, I am right handed so I hold the bird across the back holding the wings down and use a *VERY* sharp fairly large pair of shears
this does the job in a single "clip"

Get one of those *BIG* Rat not Mouse traps at the hardware store. put some feed or a rubber ant on the trigger and turn your head...

fix your bait so as the bird only has to put his head in far enough to get his neck broken.

you wouldn't want it to hit him on the shoulders and smash him.

I've used kitchen sheers. Be careful though, that little teaspoon of blood squirts everywhere unless you have the wings/legs properly secured in your hand.
