Anyone use them for their coop? I'm considering a few ideas for my run which I want to convert to poultry house. Roll Down shutters would allow me to secure it and keep the elements out. It's not the cheapest option, but some of these are operate remote with Wi-Fi.

Another option would be just to sheet metal panel a 3rd of the way up the hardware cloth, but that cuts down on the light and this area already gets less hours in the sun. The other thing is humidity.

If I went with transparent panels I would have less light in but still have humidity to think about.

I could run electric and install a fan which would be helpful to have heated drinkers in the winter.

Or I go super cheap and just make my own shade out of a pvc pipe and tarp.

Started hanging tarps while facing 40 mph wind gusts and I give up. I need to move the geese to this run ASAP (for reasons I posted about in the emergencies forum.)

I hate putting screws in just for tarps that are probably going to get ripped up anyway. It would just be a temp thing to keep the geese out of sight at night.

May need to call the local sheet metal company tomorrow instead.

Would clear corrugated plastic work for you? The sheet metal company might even carry it.
That's actually what the roof is, but for the bottom half I need something that isn't transparent so predators can't see the geese as I have coyotes. I'm probably going to match up some sheetmetal with the garage the run is backed up against now.

For my old coop I bought a heavy duty piece of canvas with grommets. I then installed screw eyes around the top/bottom of my run and a put carabiner on each screw eye that I just kept permanently there. It took maybe 5 minutes to put on and take off my canvas when I needed it. The heavy duty canvas withstood a hurricane without ripping or budging. This isn’t my picture and obviously not a screw eye, but it kind of gives you a visual about what I mean.

Awesome! I didn't think of that! I would much prefer something retractable that didn't cost and arm and a leg so maybe that's what I'll do.
