FYI I'm a novice at incubating eggs.
I made these two manual egg turners to use in my homemade incubator and now I'm not sure which one I want to use. I have Road Island Red chickens and will be using my own eggs. Which one would you use and why?
I like the second one, as it is more like the way the eggs would be if under a hen. The first one looks like you can get more eggs in it. So perhaps use the second one unless you are incubating more eggs than the second one can handle.
Nice job on them by the way.
If that was my set up, I would make sure the fan is not blowing directly on the eggs, as it will probably cause extra loss of fluid in the egg.
I use a 80 mm 12 volt computer fan in my incubator. I have it hooked to a 5 volt usb charger. It turns and creates a light breeze. While I have not tried it, I think 12 volts would push a lot of air.
thank you for the reply that's why I made the roller one. Read some reviews on here and decided to make one.
the fan blows the other way toward two light bulbs and the air comes up from the bottom. the fan comes on with the light bulbs when the thermostat calls for heat.
This fan is 120 volts and is variable speed. It works for me since I didn't have a computer fan. I built one years ago that I used a computer fan in and it worked well also.
