By the title, you may think something bad has happened to my baby chick, and that’s exactly what happened.
My three-week-old Silkie-Turken baby chick was reluctant to come out of his baby chick coop this morning, which was very strange considering he is always the first baby chick out (he’s a very adventurous baby chick). He was just acting strange today. We took a look at him and realized he was limping to the point where he could hardly walk. We looked at his feet—no bumblefoot, injuries, etc. We brought him to his own separate box area with his mom (he’s the only baby chick in his own batch, but we have other babies) and fed him eggs and his usual baby chick feed with a small cup of water. We’ve heard he may have a vitamin deficiency, and eggs will be very good for him.

This baby, despite the adventurous side to him, is the weakest. From day one, he has been the smallest baby. When he first hatched he could probably sit on someone’s thumb. About one-two weeks after he hatched, he began to have a swollen-like vent with crusty butt. We carefully cleaned it up, everything was good. Then about a week later, this is happening. Fortunately, he is eating, but I’m afraid not enough water (but he still drinks it). He can’t do anything without help.

Please help. I love this baby chick. I don’t want to lose him.

I have not checked for internal vent blockage, but I have ordered him vitamins!

How is he?

How is he???
I know this is super late, but unfortunately, he died during the night on 12 May 2023. :( He was a very sweet and adventurous baby chick that didn’t deserve his early death. We don’t know what it was, but we are starting to think it could have been the mom’s fault for hurting him because she is rather rough to her other babies, so much so that we’ve had to give them a hen who was broody (thankfully, she properly took care of the babies).
