I recently brought home 3 Swedish Flower chicks and they are about 6 days old now. These are my first young chicks in 8 years, so I may not be remembering correctly, but all three of them seem to be SO much less active than my previous chicks. They sleep most of the day and are up to eat and drink for like a minute at a time then go back to sleep again. They even fall asleep when I take them out of the brooder. I've tried spreading chick starter on the brooder floor to get them foraging, and they do get up and eat it, but then it's right back to lying down and dozing off. I've also tried putting a brighter light in there and they got Sav-A-Chick electrolytes the first day I brought them home.
Should I be worried? The brooder is in an unheated walk-out basement room. The warm side of the brooder is around 92°F and there is a cool side (guessing around 65°F). I bought some Corid just in case but haven't used it yet. I think their poop looks normal and they are eating and drinking.
