Hey y’all!
I’m looking for your favorite article/how-to when it comes to incubating ducks. I’ve hatched plenty of chickens but I would love to hatch ducklings this year too. I have one Drake and 6 hens. Breeds are welsh harlequin and Indian runners. Any advice is welcome! Thank you.

Most of my knowledge is in my head, so I can’t help there haha, but I think this is the most important thing to know:

The biggest difference between hatching chicks and mallard-derived ducklings is the time to hatch. Ducklings take around 28 days to hatch, give or take a day or two. It also means their pip to zip is longer; Most ducklings will take around 36 - 48 hours from pip to zip, but I’ve had a few take up to 55 hours. Patience is key :)

Also, on the off chance you need it, this is the assisted hatch article I used and had a great time with,

Awesome! Thank you both! I knew they needed long to incubate, but I didn’t know zipping took longer too. I have assisted a few chicks hatching, but I’d like to prevent the need in my ducklings. I’ll be reading up and researching before I try. Thanks!!
