We’re incubating and hatching chicks it’s our first time and we hatched the first 2 successfully, i have one that i heard chirping from inside the egg so i came over to look and saw the shell had a crack in it but i haven’t heard anything and it hasn’t cracked anymore in 3 hours, the other 2 hatched right out. Or i could see pieces of the shell moving. Now im scared it’s shrink wrapped or something 😂 does this usually happen? Is this common? How long should i wait until i try to assist if it doesn’t hatch anymore?

It might just be taking a rest, it can take hours. Tomorrow when you take the already hatched chicks out you can think about helping if its not hatched yet and if its still alive.

I put them in at different times unfortunately so the others are already out and about 4-5 days old but it’s hatching now! I just get freaked out 😂😂 thank you!

Some chicks take a lot longer to hatch. I have hatched many times and still worry about some chicks. Ive had chicks take just over 24 hours from pip to hatch

Is there a reason why you're hatching your eggs upright with turner still in incubator?
I read that it was better to keep them pointed side down and straight up? Is that not true? All my eggs hatched except one? I had 11 in there. If you have any tips please send them my way! It’s my first time using an incubator or hatching eggs period lol

Congrats glad to hear you have had a good first hatch. Only time I would hatch upright and not laying on its side, is if it had a bad/dethatched air cell. And I wouldn't leave turner like that in incubator during hatch, as it's too easy for hatchlings to get hurt. Gaps holes too many things for little legs or heads to get caught up in. If you do need to hatch upright many use cut outs from egg cartons or cartons themselves to hold eggs with turner removed.
