Incubator calibration question

Hi, all.
I have a question regarding my Sailnovo 20 egg incubator (link below). I should honestly have read the reviews on it before I purchased it as this seems to be a common issue with this incubator but it doesn’t seem to want to get to the temperature I set it to. It reads that it has reached 100 degree Fahrenheit but it feels much colder. I attempted to hatch a batch of eggs with it and they looked like they hadn’t been incubated at all when I candled them. In comparison to two other incubators I have that have both proven reliable and effective repeatedly, it feels cold to the touch despite the incubators all being set to 100. Has anyone here any experience with this incubator or calibrating it? I’d like to fix it so I can use it as effectively as my other two in the future. Thanks. 😊

I do not have experience with that particular incubator, but I have two Brinseas and an NR360 and not one of them is correct temperature either.

I would suggest you get a hygrometer/thermometer to check. I have 5 different Govee brand ones and they're very accurate, and if you find one that's not, they are calibratable to the rest or to the ice water or boiling water tests.

This is one they've got where you get two of them, 30% off.

This issue is easily remedied by getting a good thermometer/hygrometer, such as the Incutherm from Incubator Warehouse...I always use one, no matter what brand incubator. IMG_4183.jpeg

I ended up figuring it out. Thank you. I recalibrated it. I bought the cheapest hatching eggs I could find and I'm going to test it out again and see if it hatches this time.

I have the same one. Did you get it right? It took some guess work and a little red fluid thermometer, and I've seen development, but keep having problems other than temp and humidity like opening it too much or power went out. But I'm trying again, like the 5th time. I hope you figured it out and I hope I have too. If you get to read this please let me know what happened...🙂

My 2 cents on this incubator, as I recently bought a New "open box" one on ebay for an insanely low price, as an extra back-up bator. I think it was a defective 1, which was why it was a return, but I've managed to make it work. Thermometers showed my actual temps were low in relation to incubators digital temp too. Calibrating to the max, closest I was able to get it was it's max of 103 setting = 100 actual degrees inside. OK, temp fixed, now to humidity. No way can it be used with the included water bottle unless you want it raining inside it! So I removed bottle & tube and made a l little plug for hole with a foam ear plug. I use a syringe to put in about 1mL water 3X daily, that keeps humidity around 45-55% in my current indoor conditions here.

Thought all was OK, so I put in 6 eggs for trial run. Temp would not get above 99 with eggs inside! My house temp is about 66, & I was using the foam insulating case that came with it, but 12 hrs later, still no higher than 99. So I rigged up a wire shelf to put incubator on, with a large "Davis Air Dryer" about 8" below incubator & semi closed it in, to create about a 76 degree environment for the incubator & now it's been rock steady at 100 degrees for a couple days.

What a pain, but it looks like smooth sailing now! After all that work, I may still not know how incubator works, as these are shipped eggs in it, but hoping & praying I'll get something to hatch 🤭
