Hi,I am having some issues with my babys.
2 pics added of the brahma siblings, 5 weeks old,the small one died not 10 minutes ago, this is the size diff and lack of growth i am talking about, yes I washed my hands before handling the live one.
I have lost far too many chicks in the past 2 months. All have the same symptoms, all from tsc,all diff ages. Here is what I've done.
treated for worms.
treated for coccidiosis.
given extra supplements in food and water
check for lice and mites individualy all 30 birds,2 turkey and 3 quial weekly.
change litter every few days and spot clean
clean drinkers and feeders daily
seperated all birds into smaller groups by who looks the worse.
daily poop checks for coccidiosis and worms or anything out of the normal
General Symptoms over the past 2 months are,
*general listlessness
*puffed up
*mouth breathing or gasping(no crop issues,no smells)
*sleepy eyes
*ruffled looking feathers
*weight loss
*not roosting on bars
*all white milky poo
*sometimes pasty butt
*straight failure to thrive
*swollen face
After intensive Google research im suspecting salmonella oe Ecoli along with a sinus issue. No bubbly eyes.No discharges. Maybe the hatchery is having an out brake. Maybe its me. Maybe its the fact I switched from Purina medicated to Dumour not medicated. I switched back to Purina yesterday. They all die at diff ages. My polish and the grey one are 9 and 12 weeks. The polish had 4 siblings that died in a 2 week period of getting them. The babys are mix between 2 weeks and 4 weeks, all the same size still. The grey ones sibling died 2 days ago. The 2 jungle fowl also died. The one next to the grey one is half the size of its sibling that is in another brooder.
Am I close to diagnoses?. How do you treat salmonella or Ecoli in chicks? Besides biosecurity.
Side note,my litter pine pellets that I partly wet down so its softer(I do not place them in it while its wet). I switch between that and shavings.
I do not have access to an avian vet or livestock vet. The poultry lab is a 2 hour drive and I work the same hours they are open. I have been informed I can contacted them and do an over night shipment, but in order to do that, ill have to wait for another one to die, wich is what I'm trying to avoid.
I tried giving a shot of LA 200 to the polish but he literally has no breast muscle. I tried the thigh but it bled. I'm not a vet. YouTube only gets you so far. So I gave up and started treating them all in the water 2cc per gallon changed twice daily. That started today.
My question is,the ones too small for antibiotic shots, how do I inject super b complex and how much? One will not eat or drink at all. He pretends to eat. Weighs less than 2oz. He's 4 weeks but the size of a day old but with wing feathers.
