Hello, I live in a house facing a lake, there is a white Pekin duck that comes to my backyard and I have been feeding her for years. On April 1st she was sitting on her eggs across the lake in the neighbor's yard, she got attacked by 7 drakes all day and all night. When she came to my yard for food I noticed one of her eyes was closed, I was able to catch her and take her to the vet. I put antibiotics (neo-poly)to her eyes 3 to 4 times a day and took care of her for 10 days. She was stressed and wanted to go back to the lake . I released her a week ago when she was fully recovered but she got attacked again and this time was even worse. she was trying to get out of the water, but she was so weak she could not, I threw food for her to come close to me so I could catch her but I was not successful as she was swimming away. I could not find her for 2 days, I went to look for her, she was hiding in front of a house covered with blood and flies. I brought her home. She can't see, and seems weak. she doesn't eat. I place her in warm water in the bath tub and clear her eyes and add Neo-Ploy and put Neosporin on her head. I place water and food (meal worms, cut dried fish, pelleted/crumbles duck food. I am taking her to vet again. I placed her on a blanket covered with pee pads and kept her warm. Any advice you can give me is truly appreciated. Thank you

I'm sorry to hear about your Duck.
I'll tag in @Jenbirdee and @Tookie to see if they have suggestions for you.

I think you are doing a good job tending to her wounds and eyes.

She may have injured her leg during these attacks, hopefully with rest and getting nutrition into her she will improve.

She may benefit from Niacin. I think most folks with Ducks give 1ml Durvet B Complex daily for about a week or so to help build up the legs.

I hope the vet can check her over for you.

Thank you!!! I give her Purina duck food, which has prebiotics and Niacin. My concern is her eyes. do you think she will get her vision back? Also, I am traveling in 10 days and don't have anyone to watch her, do you know if any places that might take care of her until I am back?

Hard to know how well her eyes will heal up. All you can do is keep them cleaned and apply your ointment, hopefully the eyes will improve.

I don't know who will take in waterfowl, you may want to talk with a rescue group or rehabber to see if they can watch her for you or they may be able to refer you to someone who will.

Poor thing! I don't think I have any other advice to give. I do hope she recovers swiftly and well, and that her eye is still good.

Do you know anyone that would be willing to care for her while you're gone? I'm not sure what I would do in that situation.

Thank you! she is limping, I thought it might be from sitting all day. I placed her in bathtub and filled the water to where she can stand and walk around, I left the room and came back to check on her. she jumped out of the tub and was standing by the window. Seems the limping is getting worse. any advice?
I live in Houston and don't have friends or family to help out. Thank you!

Just try to keep her resting and not using her leg as much.
With chickens I know you can give low dose aspirin to help with pain, so you probably could give that to her and see if it helps at all.
Do try giving the Durvet High Level B Complex, as suggested. That could help her out as well.
Filling the bathtub to where she can't touch the bottom, but swim and move her legs, might do some good.
Hm, since you don't know anyone I would try what @Wyorp Rock said.

I did a search for animal rescues near Houston who is the link there are many. I don’t think they would just take her while you’re away and give her back. I think you’d have to surrender her probably. Which I believe is in her best interest due to the fact that she cannot go back to that pond with all those Drakes attacking her again. Although if she stays with you, she will want to go back in the pond and next time probably not survive therefore, I believe it is in her best interest to surrender her to an animal rescue.
Edit to add if you do find someone to babysit her while you’re gone and then when you get home, go outand built a coop and pen for her and got some more female Ducks to be with her then I would say go ahead and keep her.
