Hey there!
I just hatched from an incubator, and 7/8 out of 12 made it!
I have one runt, and he has an injured foot. It looks like one of the toes is cut pretty badly and the other chicks have been bullying him as well.
He’s 1 day old, and I wasn’t sure what to do, so I rinsed the foot off in water and placed him back in the warm incubator (I cleaned it first) to get him away from the other chicks.
I’m worried he won’t make it.
Please help!

Hi, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Putting him back in the incubator alone was a good idea. You can turn the heat down to 95F and shut off the humidity or keep it around 40-50%. I've kept weak ones in the incubator for an entire 24 hours and the difference in them was amazing!

Are his feet and legs normal otherwise? If it's just a surface cut, you can spray Veterycin on it or use a dab of triple antibiotic ointment, but wipe the excess off so it doesn't peck it.

If it's worse, can you get a picture of its foot?

Congrats on the great hatch!

Thank you!
It’s a little more than a surface cut. His toe isn’t hanging off or anything, but it’s def hurt.
I ordered a new brooder today to keep him in, but I also have another chick in there with him that I had to hatch myself last night. He was stuck in the egg and his feathers dried to the membrane. He’s doing great this morning.
So I have them together in there for now.
Am I able to keep both of them in the box together? Since the other one is so new?

You should be but you'll need to just see how it goes between them. I'd wait until the last one is fuzzy, up and walking around. I've had chicks together that were a month apart and the little one just learned to dodge fast.
