Help! I'm at a loss on this one as I have never experienced it before. Half of my chickens face was swollen. I started with Vetericyn, then benadryl (1 dose), then Terramycin (7 days). It has been 11 days since the swelling started. It has decreased, but it's not gone.

I pulled 'something' from the bottom of her face on day 2 that looked like the hemp bedding I used. On day 4 I pulled something like a giant blackhead/plug from the black spot by her beak.

She is eating, drinking, laying, and acting totally normal otherwise.

I'm at a loss...not sure what to do next. Help!

I have attached picts but can't figure out why I can't upload a video

Flush her eye generously with saline and see if you can press anything out of that swelling. Since you did pull what you believe was hemp bedding from the eye, there may be more of that (tiny pieces) or some pus in there (due to infection from that bedding being in there).
Flush and apply ointment 2-3 times a day - try to press out any pus that may be in the eye.
I would also look inside the beak at the Choanal Slit to make sure there's not something stuck in there too.
If the swelling persists, then you can try Tylan50 or Tylosin Powder in addition to flushing/application of ointment to see if that clears it up.

Thanks!! I have flushed and pressed her face to no avail. She's really easy to handle/ doesn't mind me messing with her face, but I can't seem to get her to open her beak long enough for me to get a good look. Any tips??

Thanks so much!! I haven't pulled anything from the actual eye (picts attached). Does that make a difference? Any tips for keeping her beak open? She doesn't mind when I mess with her face, but draws the line at saying "ahh".

UPDATE: I laid her on her back this morning and got a good look in her mouth. Everything looked totally normal/healthy.

I may be misunderstanding - you haven't pulled anything from the eye - was the bedding on the outer skin or did it come out of the swollen part that is underneath the eye?

I pulled 2 things out of her face (cheek area), but nothing from the actual eye socket. The first thing (picture included in the 1st post) kind of looked like the hemp bedding... but that's just a guess. The 2nd thing was more tubular- kind of like a long blackhead.
