Hello my name is Ashley, currently living in Tennessee and I am now obsessed with chickens ahah.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes, started in May of this year!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 16 but have 8 more coming in December (the number just increased without me even thinking about it…may be 40 soon
)
(3) What breeds do you have? 2 meat chickens (now pets since they were supposed to be olive eggers from the store), 2 Easter eggers, 3 australorps, 2 welsummers, 1 sapphire gem, 1 sapphire splash, 2 turkens, 1 Salmon favorelle, and 2 chocolate orpingtons. Will be getting these shipped to me in December: 2 BCMs, 3 olive eggers, and 3 blue splash ameraucana’s.
Right now I am dying to find a frizzle chicken but have had no luck locally or online. So that is my goal right now: To find a few frizzles and a frizzle naked neck and also a silkie showgirl/ a few more naked necks since mine both turned out to be roo’s sadly.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I honestly just love the personality of the chickens. They are so fun to be around and they are so cute! The eggs are always a plus as well!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? We actually ride and breed horses, I also love reading, watching movies, and when I’m not at home I am working as a RN.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We have 12 or 14 horses (I can’t keep up with them lol), 4 dogs, 2 Guinea pigs, 1 lizard, and quite a few fish. Right now it’s just me and my husband and all of our furry little friends.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this site just asking different questions online whenever I was searching about random things etc.
