Hi,
My cousin has to rehome her favorite hen as the poor thing is being terrorized by her flock and has asked me to take her. My cousins flock is around 20 hens and 2 roosters, my flock is only 5 (very fat, very spoiled) hens. I have figured out a solution for my run (which is not huge, 6 feet wide, 9 feet long plus an extra 5 feet by 5 feet under the coop where they can hang out)-I plan to set up a dog pen where the new hen can stay with her own food and water. But I’m looking for ideas for the coop. We’re getting cold her in MD (35 last night), and she needs to sleep in the coop. The coop is a walk in but, oddly enough, doesn’t have a lot of sleeping options. There’s one 4 foot long roost about 5 feet off the ground where my five princesses sleep but I’m guessing the new hen wouldn’t be permitted. Has anyone dealt with similar situations? Any ideas on how to set up a separate area in a coop?
