Introducing the Handschin Homestead Flock!

My name is Heidi Liesel and these are my fellas and bellas!!! I get up to 19 eggs a day from my girls. Chickens and dogs are spoiled rotten. The Great Pyrenees are Lady Athena and one of her puppies (Black Jack). My father and I rescued Lady in November 2023 weighing only 45 lbs. soaking wet. She shocked us with puppies just 4 1/2 weeks later. Except for Black Jack; all the other puppies have great homes full of Livestock to protect! Mom and Son are an amazing team that keep any and all potential predators away from my chickens. You should see that Hawk fly away in a hurry when they see it!

I'm planning on hatching lots of chicks from my flock whenever I get a Broody Hen. Going to set eggs in the incubator the same time I put a few under the Broody. Hopefully can put the chicks I hatch in the incubator under the Broody at night.

Thanks!!!! Lady is a healthy 115 lb girl, Black Jack is over 130 lbs. (still growing!) and I can hardly wait to hatch my own babies! Half my flock are Brahmas and I also have a healthy RIR boy to pair with the BR and Australorp girls.
