Hello! My name is Daniel, I live in KS, and I'm new here. I have wanted a little backyard flock for many years and finally pulled the trigger last spring. We started with 4 chicks and 2 ducklings. We had to rehome two that turned out to be roosters and lost a duck to a neighborhood raccoon. We replaced the roos with 3 mille fleur chicks that ALL turned out to be roos as well. We're currently looking for new homes for them too. We love our ladies for the constant entertainment and fresh eggs. We will continue to expand our flock hopefully adding another duck and 3 pullets. We're not taking anymore chances with chicks from tractor supply. I've wound up here many times while doing google searches, but decided to join today. I look forward to learning and sharing as much as possible.

Aww I’m so sorry you lost a duck and some chickens. It’s so sad when that happens. I hope you do get at least one more duck for your duck. Is the duck that you still have a male or a female? If it’s a male, you will need several females for it. Otherwise, it will be trying to mate your chicken hens and can injured and kill them due to different anatomy . I have one Drake with 14 girl ducks. lol he is very happy boy . I also have three chicken hens but I keep them separately to make sure my Drake doesn’t try to mate them. Welcome to byc!
