Irish Tracy Pyle or Dan Tracy Pyle

Hi Comnunity,

Few months ago I found an article talk about this gamefowl(Irish Tracy Pyle or Dan Tracy Pyles) and the great history about this bloodline. Since, I started to do research and learn from it. Does anyone know any breeder out there still have this bloodline? If any picture that will be great. I'm appreciated your kind inputs.

Dan Tracy was the mayor in Newburyport MA in around a hundred years or so. He imported the birds from Ireland during that time. John Colby purchased birds from him. He passed him down to his son Lou Colby and he kept his birds pure. My brother and I purchased many Colby Pyles (Tracy Pyles) from him in his later years .Lou has since passed away. He raised American pitbull terries Pure Colby line and game fowl his whole life in Newburyport. I'm not sure but, I heard one of his sons or grandsons is continuing his line. I lost my last Pyles to raccoons. They are difficult to breed pure. I have to guess from tight breeding. I had much better luck crossing them. I really did enjoy having them when I did.

Paulyp@Since previously you owned this bloodline, may I ask how can you tell if the bird is pure? I searched for it on the internet I saw some come with white legs and yellow legs... I also attached an image which I found on the internet and believed he is pure.

Well a bird is only as pure as the breeder is honest. I have heard of some pyles coming with white legs but I have only seen yellow legs. Also these birds are White with a small amount of reddish brown but when I crossed them they threw blue birds almost every time regardless to what they were crossed to. Getting back to the white legs. Lou Colby had Boston Round Heads and they had white legs and were probably one of the best looks breeds I have ever seen! He may have had some crosses at some point (I'm speculating). Google the Colby farm in Newburyport Ma I'm sure someone could put you in the right direction. Another thing I remember is They were expensive. I paid $250.00 for my first pair of Pyles. To have such a rare breed kept pure for so long I believe they were worth it.

This bird looks just like a Boston Round Head with maybe a splash of Pyle. See the black in his tail? That's a cross or a totally diffirent type of pyle.

Also I realize the cock has been dubbed but he looks to have a peacomb and pyle are straight combed.

This bird was not one of mine but he is said to be from Lou Colby's yard and looks like every one I have seen. The only variation I have seen is less white. Not more color at least on a cock.

Cost $250.00 for a pair of Pyles is worth the money. If I find one I willing to pay more because it great to own one.

I have tracy pyles they come strait comb and pea comb yellow and white legged some are all white some with a little brass in the wings . I never had one come like the below except crossed with my miner blues have fotoz u like . [email protected]
