Is a Silkie a best egg laying chicken?

Their eggs are small (so they don't go as far as larger eggs from a bigger breed), and they tend to go clucky a lot. I don't think they are renowned for being a top egg layer. Lovely chooks, though.

My silkies lay every day in a good month, then every 2-3 days in a bad one. Right now they are 2-3 days due to it being winter, and the amount of eggs varies from 0 to 3 out of my 6 laying hens, one of which has recently started laying. They are also prone to broodiness, great if you want to hatch your own chicks, but annoying if you just want eggs as the hen will stop laying eggs until you snap her out of it, which can be difficult with a stubborn broody... :lau
