Welcome to BYC!This baby has had a larger than normal bottom since we got her, but now it's becoming more pronounced and sort of pulsing. She's so little, but could she be eggbound? If she is, is there anything that we could even do to help her?
She's running around with the others and acting normal, fighting me holding her of course. Haha The area isn't warm, just odd and bulgy and pulsing or moving when she breathes. It feels like there is something hard inside, but loose in the middle. The tummy feathers are not grown in.Welcome to BYC!
Egg bound, no not possible.
Pasty butt would be possible but her vent looks perfectly clear!
Mushy chick syndrome.. (infected naval sack) would be my next course of investigation.. How does the belly button area look.. from this angle, it's not discernible but definitely not "normal" looking. Does it feel average temperature or is it hotter than the rest of the chick like infections sometimes are? Is there a scab or is the naval healed up and dry? Are those tummy feathers wet or just not grown in.
How is the behavior.. active and running around with others, eating and drinking normal? Normal poops?

I have had a couple chicks look (hatch) like that throughout the years.. bruised looking swollen abdomen. I cannot recall specifics to the results. Seems like stunted growth may have been one.
Hoping your baby is fine!![]()
