I currently have a hen who has bumblefoot and i was wondering if there's any alternatives for epsom salt like table salt.

Oh ok, good to know. And another question, ive seen some videos where people scrape it off using a scalpel or a sharp object, can i do the same with my current situation? While both are considered a "salt" they are actually two very different things. Table salt (Sodium Chloride, NaCl) will not produce the same results as Epsom salt (Magnesium Sulfate, MgSO₄). Table salt is only useful in bumble foot treatment if you are making a homemade saline solution to flush the bumble.
I only cut it open as a last resort. Try flushing it will saline, chlorhexidine or even iodine then coating it well in Vetaricyn or plain old original Neosporin and wrapping it for a few days (change wraps daily). Then try pulling the scab off with tweezers first.Oh ok, good to know. Out of curiosity what is the purpose of the chlorhexidine and or iodine? Also thanks btwI only cut it open as a last resort.
