The brown one. She doesn't ALWAYS stand like this, but more often than not. She's very fast. She's three weeks old and only this big, the pekin is four weeks old and twice the size..

It definitely looks more like a Runner than a Khaki... But its hard to tell for sure until they get a little older. But if she is like that more often than not, it is probably a Runner.

This is one of my Khaki Campbell ducklings at 2 weeks old - I've tried to get you a photo of the beak as that is the give away. It is hard to tell with your photo due to the angle of the shot but from a distance it looks different. I'm no expert but it appears to have the defined shape of a runners head. And you have to remember that Khaki Campbells were produced after various mating of Rouen, Indian Runner and Wild Duck, so just like your duckling when mine run they often stand up tall, but their bodies aren't as slim as runner ducks when stood normally.

The video shows them running around the garden, you can see the 'angel' wing markings on their backs too. I think I have one drake which is totally dark brown in colour and two females - they both have four clear lighter angel wing shaped patches on their backs.

I thought it was a Khaki Campbell at first but the amount that she stands up made me think otherwise, and she's so much smaller than my Pekin. Her beak is dark brown/black but the tip and the underside of it are a light pinkish.

I don't know if you can tell from this picture but the tip and underside are A LOT lighter than the rest of her beak. If she is a Runner will she stay this chocolate brown the rest of her life? And if she's a Khaki will she start to get lighter?

Thanks!

This is my chocolate runner at a week or so old

Cadbury is 3.5 years old now.

So she turned from all brown to brown and white? Looks exactly like my baby. My mystery duck, Dallas, sometimes drops and walks like a Pekin or other kind of ducks, do Runners *always* stand up straight?

Hard to tell, I think TLWR is probably right - it's a wait and see (but what a lovely surprise). It doesn't help as Runners were used to create the Campbell breed of duck so they are going to be very similar. But from the shape of the head and that pose and line of the body it gives the impression of being a Runner.

As for the size ,all 3 of my Khakis are very different sizes but were incubated at the same time. Scramble was half the size of Pip and Pumpkin when she was hatched, yet now she has almost caught up with Pip. Pumpkin is as big as my Alyesburys. To look at them you'd never believe they hatched the same time.

They are both beautiful looking little ducklings you have there and you can see they are happy and healthy, just enjoy them and don't worry too much how quick they grow. You'll look back in a few weeks time and suddenly see the little one is now the biggest

Lovely markings on your Runner too, TLWR.

They are very happy and healthy! Loud loud oh they're so loud. Every day at 6:00am they wake up and peep their hearts out without fail! Are runner ducks more talkative than pekins? Dallas (potential runner) talks SO much more than Toaster (pekin).

I think it is pretty much agreed that females talk the most (how strange is that) but all my Pekins in the past have been very vocal, although the boys were a bit quieter when I think about it. My ducklings are pretty loud too - you can hear them calling me from the other size of the house with all the doors shut, especially if they can smell their cabbage cooking. I am pretty sure I have one drake and 5 females. They even recognise the bowl I give them the cabbage in now. Your ducklings obviously love spending time with you and have decided to get you trained up early on.

At first I thought Dallas was a girl and Toaster was a boy because she never talked, but this past week neither of them will shut up! Even while they're eating and drinking their peeps are just continuous! I'm hoping I made a mistake while vent sexing them and one is a boy... A pekin/runner duck sounds cool! Since they are both female it is okay to keep them together throughout the year, right?
