This plant is growing everywhere in my covered and uncovered run. After reading some threads about toxic plants to chickens, I’m concerned it is a Buttercup. I’m worried about it being toxic. Any advice and/or knowledge of this plant. The girls seems fine for now; they’ve been exposed to it since they’ve been allowed outside (about 2 weeks or less). My birds are about 6+ weeks old.

Looks like it is buttercup. We have a lot of it that grows around here. Not sure if my chickens eat it or not. I've read that it can be toxic to humans but can't really find anything about chickens.

I’ve read some threads on this forum about toxic plants to chickens and Buttercup is on the list. I’m worried now. ☹️ Looks like I have some digging to do tomorrow…a lot of digging!

Chickens and plants can be difficult. There aren't many studies on what plants they can and can't eat. You can dig it up just to be safe.

Do remember that just because something is toxic to humans or other animals doesn't mean it is to them.

I have a lot of buttercup in my lawn. I don't know if it's toxic to chickens or not but I've not had any problems. My chickens have access every day to the stuff, I have seen them nibble on it but they don't chow down. I wouldn't worry.

It's nigh-on impossible to get rid of, my current plan is improving the soil and increasing the pH and calcium level to allow the clover plants to outcompete it. It's working. Slowly.
