Hello,

Is it normal to have pullets all the same exact age and exact breed with different comb and waddles?

My Buff Orpingtons (15 weeks old) are all female but there has always been 2 out of the 7 with big ol’ red waddles & combs. No crowing, no significant difference in stature size. But very red and big waddles & combs. See my pictures! Is this normal? Or do I have 2 roosters in disguise?

I've always had more trouble telling with buff orpingtons between gender. But at 15 weeks I think you'd be having crowing. You'll know soon enough as they should start laying in a few weeks. It's not unusual for there to be variations depending on breeding lines especially if you got them from a large commercial breeder. I have 9 RIR hens I got from Mt. Healthy Hatchery and most have relatively average combs but two have much larger. It could also be that these two are just further along in development. The combs and wattles usually plump up and get really red before they start laying.

My Lavender Orpington didn’t start crowing until like 7 months so not necessarily unusual to not have crowing yet lol depends on the bird. But they don’t look male so idk

Sorta like puberty?
