Hi all, I posted a week ago about our Guinea hen that was attacked and has a large wound on her back. So sorry to post again! Just worrying about this one part of her wound. Ironically it’s the least deep part, it’s at the base of her tail and has looked fine until this morning. I’ve been cleaning the wound 2x a day with saline, then vetericyn and silver honey. She’s eating, laying and very alert and feisty.

What should I do about this? None of the other parts of her wound look like this, except for a spot that I think is just bruising. Do I need to try to remove the flesh? Or is this also bruising?

Thank you!!

Is there a bad odor?

The green is bruising. If you are seeing Pus, then swab the wound with Chlorhexidine to clean it well, then apply Triple Antibiotic Ointment into the wound.

UPDATE! Ack..is this infected?

So it’s been one week since the attack, for the most part her wound definitely seems better with no odor, pus or sign of infection. BUT I just noticed this morning that one of the more minor wounds at the base of her tail is turning green…it looks like there’s pus in there but I can’t tell and not sure how much to mess with it. What should I do? Attaching photo here. Any advice would be very welcome! We’ve gotten this far and I really don’t want to lose her to infection after all of this.

There is not a bad odor, took another picture last night, attaching here. How can I tell if there’s pus under there? I just can’t tell what’s going on under the skin.
