Yes they are gorgeous! They are not a recognized color, though, so you would have to find someone who is working on them as a project. Not sure with ameraucanas, but I believe the isabel color is created by using self blue (lavender) and buff breeding stock. You can try contacting the Ameraucana Breeder's Club and see if they can help.:)

Yes you are correct, not a recognized color. I have found a breeder, received eggs, only 4 were fertile, 3 hatched, no chicks survived. I contacted them, they are not very responsive. Their response was, they would keep me updated when they have chicks. I do not want anymore unfertile. I thought i would ask on here. Thanks for the response.

I had the same issue with the lavender or self blue birds. I contacted all the breeders listed on the ameraucana breeders club directory who were breeding this color, I think there might be an inherent weakness in the self blue so possibly also the Isabel though I am not sure. I had two batches of eggs (26 total) from two different breeders and only hatched two chicks, that were black split to self blue. I know of several other forum members who had issues with hatching the self blue birds so there may be something to it. You’re probably better off buying chicks in that case. Good luck and welcome to the forum!:)

I’ve had the same problem this year with hatching Isabel and Self Blue. I’ve had 4 different batches, only 2 self blue and 2 Isabel hatched. That’s out of about 45 eggs!!! I’m going to try again next year. Let me know if you find a breeder of Isabel eggs that you have luck with. The ones I got were fertile, but only a few made it to lockdown.

I found a breeder in Fl. I have ordered a dozen hatching eggs, i will keep you posted of my hatch. They arent available until August 11th.
Good luck! Thanks for the update! I also ordered from a breeder in Florida. I only ordered 6 Isabel though, 2 hatched. Not that terrible. I plan to order more next spring.
