Stupid me, I called to see if I needed a permit to build a chicken coop. I was told that my address is not zoned agricultural so I can't have chickens. I live on three acres! I always play by the rules but this one is going to be broken. Update: turns out we are grandfathered in since they rezoned in 2005.

I found it because I will be moving to Smithfield soon and was looking for laws and ordinances with in the Town limits.

I still cannot find anything for within town limits... any advice?

I don't think chickens are allowed in town limits. Maybe try calling animal control? Or the treasurers' office because they are the ones you pay dog license fees to.
