Hi!

So, some of my chickens have scaly leg mites. I've read that ivermectin will cure that, so I just ordered some. However, I'd like to de-worm the flock at the same time.

Any suggestions for a de-wormer that is safe with ivermectin? I've read ivermectin used to help with worms, but not so much anymore due to parasite resistance.

I plan on doing ivermectin topically.

For scaly leg mites I would use something like Nustock cream or Vicks salve daily and rub it into the scales to smother the mites. Nustock also contains sulfur which kills mites. Vaseline or other oils may also be used. For worming Valbazen 1/2 ml orally for a 4-6 pound chicken on day 1 and day 10 is a safe wormer. Or you can use SafeGuard liquid goat wormer or the horse paste, 1/4 ml per pound given orally for 5 straight days. Both of those must be shaken well and use a syringe to draw them up. If you have already given the ivermectin or still want to use it, I might wait a couple of weeks to worm.
