Has anyone gone to or know about this swapmeet, the reason I'm asking is that I live in Ca. & I make poultry carriers & folding pens for poultry or what ever small animal.

Since I'am so far I want to make sure that this swap is as big as I hear it is to make the trip pay, so I'm asking for any/whatever info I can get

Thanks, I've been to their site & talked to them but I would like other input other than them. I someone has gone to it & it is what they claim.

My parents live around the corner in Gravois Mills and they always talk about this swap meet (in fact we had a phone conversation today). I was planning to drive from Indiana to attend but have other commitments on that date.

Hope this helps!

I've been going to the swap at Jacob's Cave off and on since 1985. I took a few years off when I wasn't keeping birds of my own and returned in 06 to note that it wasn't quite what it used to be. It was MUCH larger, but the flea market items and "junk" greatly out-numbered the birds. It was very crowded and people made it worse by riding around the grounds on lawn mowers and ATVs, wasn't much of an enjoyable experience when walking around with small children.

In the late 80s and early 90s, there was a large assortment of birds and animals, with very little junk. I remember seeing muntjac deer, many species of pheasants, wild waterfowl and what seemed to be every breed of domestic fowl!! It has certainly changed and unless you're in the market for rebel flags, army surplus or other items most people throw away, the trip from California wouldn't be worth it.

I have gone the last 3 times, including spring & fall of 2007. It is HUGE, compared to anything I have seen around this area. I agree with the above poster that there is a lot of "swap meet" type booths and items, however, I felt like there were quite a few different types of chickens and fowl. I bought 4 beautiful young Gold Laced Wyandotte hens last time there. However, there were a couple booths right near the entrance where everyone would spot them, with all type cages, so probably the market was pretty well cornered on cages.
If you were wanting to include it in a vacation, and if your cages are collapsable so you could come in a car, you would probably enjoy the whole thing, but coming from CA., if you had to pull a trailer, or something, I doubt you would have any possibility of making the gas expenses with cage sales.
There are at least 3 or 4 miles of booths, I think, maybe more, and we have never made it to all of the booths. Walked out before we see everything, which is why some people bring a 4 wheeler. When we were there, we didn't feel like there were that many, however, and they caused no problem for us. All in how you look at it, I think.

Since so many go to Jacobs cave ...how bout next year asking for members who are planning on having a booth and selling if they would have a promotional pamphlet from you and offer a small percentage for every sale you get from Jacob Cave public?
