Kaytee clean and cozy bedding vs pine shavings

Is this ok to use instead of pine shavings? I have a leftover bag from the hamsters. It's like a paper material. The bag I have is "birthday cake" colored....is that going to be a problem (chemicals, etc)? Chicks are 3 weeks tomorrow. Thank you!
