May I please ask, newbie here. I got 3 khaki cambells hens. I was told they are all 12 months and 3 weeks old and already laying. I have them for 2 weeks and I only got 3 eggs. I have kept them on the same food - barley and layer pellets and as instructed cleaning, watering and feeding them 3 times a day. I am a little bit disappointed. I can't find anywhere how long it will take them to settle in their new environment. They seem to be happy. They aren't skittish when I go into their enclosure. I talk to them softly and move slowly. I am in the process of finishing their tractor mobile unit so they can start foraging as well. I need to wait for the fertilizer and granulated lime to dissolve. I usually keep sheep about a week off the field but I don't know for how long to keep poultry. Also because of the bird flu in my country all poultry should be kept in. Many thanks

Where are you located? Daylight period may be a factor. The change of environment is for sure a factor. If you are headed towards spring, they should lay in a couple of weeks. If headed to autumn, they may not lay until your spring.

I am located in Ireland and we have had a lovely sunny weather last two weeks. Which is not that often here, spring came as a lamb for us. We have warm sunny days and relatively cold even frosty morning
