I looked for a knitting thread but couldn't find any so I decided to make my own! I have only started knitting this past year but I love it! I do find it a little harder that crocheting but it is slowly getting easier. So far I have made 3 pairs of slippers, and am currently working on a shawl that to me is very complex. It consists of yarn overs, Nupps, and like 4 different kinds of decreases. Thankfully I am on my third round of the repeats so I hope I will be able to finish it.
I hope this thread will welcome any novice/experienced knitters or anyone who just wants to take a peek. Please feel free to talk about anything! Past projects, current projects, favorite patterns, favorite things to knit, favorite yarn to knit with, knitting triumphs and struggles, anything at all really. ☺️

I think I saw a knitting thread a while back but I'm pretty sure it's defunct...

I have been knitting a sock, but haven't gotten very far on it. I have been knitting for ten years but I can't do much more than the basics.

Making slippers sounds interesting!

I really need to get back into knitting. I have so many supplies. Funny story, I actually learned how to knit during a college math class. It was part of the lesson. I don't remember why it was part of the lesson but it was 🤷‍♀️

I've been wanting to try a sock but double pointed needles scare me. The slippers were actually very simple to make even with my beginner "winging it"lol

I used to knit. A lot. All the time.

Not much any more. I hope to get back into it as a winter project. The spring/summer/fall is taken up by the garden.
I know what you mean in summer there is absolutely no time for anything but the bare necessities indoors.

That's an awesome story! Me too, I have so much yarn it's a little (ok very) Embarrassing...

You can knit socks using circular needles. DPNs really aren't as scary as they look, though. The scariest part is trying not to get ladders between the different needles or dropping stitches, but you learn how to tension the yarn and they make stoppers to keep your work from sliding off on you.

I'd find a simple pattern and just give them a try and see if you like them. I think the last time I used them, I knitted a pigeon. Maybe I used them when I knitted some cat toys.

(Don't judge, I mean, okay you can judge him, I do--I overstuffed the wings and sewed him together a bit crooked--he turned out a bit wonk but that's okay, I had fun making him...)

I pretty much knit everything with circular needles now, though and use the magic loop method or 2 sets of circulars. (I'm a ChiaoGoo snob, but not a good enough knitter to justify it 😜).
