almost 3 yrs old, late afternoon yesterday, I found my Isa Brown hen sitting on roost bar when rest of flock was out free-ranging. She had a droopy tail, droopy comb, and labored breathing. Several times, I offered her scrambled egg and yogurt where she was and she only took a little nibble and a little sip of water each time. She stayed in place overnight and other chicks didn't bother her. Her body raises and falls with her breathing. She is inside today under a heatbar. She takes a single sip of water, then 20 minutes later a single sip of probiotic water. She ate a nibble of scrambled egg and some feed mash. Her poo today was all watery and green (pic attached). She's calm and sleepy. I have 2 other Isa Brown hens doing fine (all 3 were raised together). Any suggestions to help her out?

I'd work on hydration, keep working with her to get fluids into her.

When was her last egg? If she's not laid and should have, then get Extra Calcium into her. You can give 1 Calcium Citrate+D3 tablet now, then once daily for 5 days. If you don't have that give her 1 TUMS now, then once daily for 5 days.

Look her over for lice/mites. If possible take a sample to your vet to see if worms may be part of the problem.

Does she have any bloat or feeling of fluid in the abdomen below the vent between her legs?

Thank you so much for the kind and helpful reply. She's looking so much better (her tail is up, some walking and preening) but she's hardly eating or drinking today. I crushed calcium into melted cheese and she ate some, but now being fickle and won't finish whole tablet. Haven't seen her drink and now refuses my offer. She has a squishy abdomen, swollen but not tight. She tolerates me feeling it and soaked her butt last nite. Don't know when/if she last laid an egg.

You can give the Calcium orally. Just pull down on her wattles, pop the tablet into the beak and let her swallow.

Glad she's doing better. I'd still continue to encourage her to eat her normal feed and stay hydrated. Monitor her crop to see that it's emptying and check now and again for lice/mites.
