Lavender Orpington chick color question...

Hi all! Just curious if anyone who has LO's can help me. We've bread from our Lav roo and two Lav hens a few times, but this is a first for us. Is it normal for some of the chicks to be black?? It's a lavxlav so it should breed true, right?? Am I missing something? Or will they lighten up over time?

Yeah these guys are very dark, definitely black on top of the head and grey underneath. Leg color is right too. It's just so weird to me!

What other males do you have? It isn't possible to get black chicks from a lav x lav breeding.

None, only one Lav roo.

I think you have one bird that is blue instead of lavender.

I'm wondering after another post I found... But all three of them look like true lavenders, no dark head like a blue. I'll post pictures in a bit.
