Hi,

I noticed my 3 year old hybrid girl was a bit lethargic a couple of days ago.
Her crop had a hardish lump (felt like food) so I gave her 2ml olive oil and massaged it 2x yesterday.
The lump loosened up and became moveable on massaging.
This morning, the crop has still got food in, it’s still loose and moveable when I massage it.
There is no smell, and it’s not full of liquid.
She is eating a very small amount but not drinking.
Do I keep going with the olive oil and massaging? Will it clear eventually if I keep doing the massaging and olive oil?
Thank in advance.

I will link to articles on crop issues, they contain a large amount of information. Crop issues can have many different possible causes.
Do you know when she last laid? Reproductive problems can often present with slow or static crops, and those are not uncommon after the age of 2. Hopefully the information in these will help you narrow it down.

Hi, thank you for replying.

Something happed to her and another of my chooks last year and they both stopped laying. They haven’t laid an egg since. I thought it might have been a virus or something?

Apart from that she has been 100% in herself since then.

I gave her 2ml of tonic (very very slowly drop by drop) Twice, 2 hours apart. And 2ml of Water (drop by drop) 2 hours after that. I was hoping that maybe she has hot dehydrated and by rehydrating her it will get things moving.
She ate a bit of egg yesterday, but not interested today.

I will look through the links to see if there is anything else I have missed on the forum.

Thank you.
