I went to the coop at around 2pm to find my girl Flossy, sitting on a perch in the coop. She looked lethargic, so I brought her inside the bathroom to inspect her. I was able to pick her up with no fuss and once inside, all she wanted to do was sleep. Her crop felt fine, no sour smell, she was not pale, no egg binding found, no mites or fleas, but she did poop this odorless runny mustard yellow and white diarrhea. She appeared fluffed and just wanted to sleep. Over the next 2 hours, I gave her regular water, electrolytes, and crushed garlic in water. The garlic water was the last thing I gave to her by dropper before she perked up a little. Once she perked up, she began drinking a lot on her own. She also began eating a lot of grit that I placed down for her and she began grooming herself a lot, but she showed little interest in food. After 3 hours, I left her alone. When I returned an hour later, she was sitting on the sink area and she still seemed a little more perky and still grooming herself a lot. She showed some interest and ate a little bit of dandelion leaves as well. Her poop had some chunks of firmness, but there is still that yellow mixed in with it.

I have researched the whole state of Idaho, where I live, and I can only find one poultry vet that is 8 hours away. I'm keeping her in for observation, but does anyone have an idea what may be going on with her? Why was she so lethargic and why was/is her poop so yellow?

How is your hen today? Can you call and dog/cat vet and ask them to take a look at her?
Hello there! She's actually doing wonderful now! I was quick to give her electrolytes and crushed garlic in water with a dropper. About an hour later, she started to slowly perk up. By night, she was pooping more solid with just a little yellow and she wad a little more interested in food. By the next day she was back to normal. She had a huge appetite and was drinking. She's back with her buddies and doing awesome, thank God! :bow
